Late last year, Sharon contacted Rebuilding Together Long Beach for help with safety repairs to her home. Having served two tours before being honorably discharged, this veteran bought her home and land back in 2014. She currently lives alone but due to her health, her longtime boyfriend helps her move around her home.
She has requested our assistance to address safety concerns by replacing deteriorating floorboards, as well as the carpeting in her dining room and living room. Sharon has served her country and were asking for help on repairs on her home.
Ali is in his 70's and recently lost his wife. His daughter moved in to care for him after he suffered a stroke. More than anything, Ali wants a ramp that will allow him to get to his woodshop behind his home so that he can pass the time doing what he loves. The makeshift ramp he currently uses is unsafe and he has fallen over while trying to navigate his backyard.
Mike lives in a motor home and makes $10,200 a year. His caregiver applied to RTLB on his behalf due to the extreme conditions he lives in. In his own words, "I am unable to take a hot shower because I cannot afford a minor electrical repair. My roof also leaks, and I cannot afford to fix it. These repairs would make a huge difference in my life and ability to live in a safe and comfortable environment." He has no functioning toilet or a proper bed to sleep on. Half of his home is without power. He continues to suffer from medical conditions.
